A vacuum pump fluid has to bee exchanged regularly. The time of an oil change depends either by a prescribed duration of operating hours or by the operating conditions. For example, in the case of continuous operation with gas ballast, an oil change is earlier necessary as when it works with neutral gases. At the latest an oil change is necessary when the oil has a dark color or a foreign smell occurs. Contaminated vacuum pump oil can damage the vacuum pump. The oil change should take place under pre-heated conditions. A difference in vacuum pump oils ist he ISO VG standard. For example, ISO VG 32 stands for a center-to-center viscosity of 32.
